Introduction

There are a number of things that could slow down or break on a computer. Below is a list of some quick fixes that'll help you fix some of the more common issues on your computer.


Reboot The Computer

Rebooting the computer will close and refresh everything on the computer. When it boots back up it should be running a lot smoother.

  • Can reboot by by pressing the windows key Windows Icon Free Download - Windows Icon Svg Transparent PNG ... on your keyboard then following the steps below



Update The Computer

Accessing The Windows Update Center

  • It's possible your computer missed out on some key updates in the recent past, and when a computer is missing key updates it could start to act "buggy".  We can quickly check this by pressing the windows key Windows Icon Free Download - Windows Icon Svg Transparent PNG ... on your keyboard and then just start typing Updates to search.




OR

  • Press the windows key Windows Icon Free Download - Windows Icon Svg Transparent PNG ... on your keyboard and then click Settings
  • Once in Windows Settings click on Updates & Security




Windows Update Center

  • Once in the Windows Update Center you'll want to click  Check online for updates
  • You may need to click it 2-3 times just make sure your computer actually finds any missing updates
  • Then click download to download & install any updates


NOTE: You may need to reboot the computer once the updates are done installing

Close Some Programs

If you have too many programs running at once it will slow down your computer. It could be you just have too many windows or programs open at one time on your computer. You can simply close some windows or programs you're no longer using. Alternatively, we can check which programs are using up the most system resources in Task Manager and close them from there.


Accessing Task Manager

  • You can get into Task Manager by pressing the windows key Windows Icon Free Download - Windows Icon Svg Transparent PNG ... on your keyboard and then just starting typing Task Manager to search for it.



OR

  • You can right click the windows icon in the bottom left corner of your screen select Task Manager




Task Manager

Once you're in task manager you'll see a list of all programs you currently have open on your computer. You'll see either of these menus when you first open Task Manger.


  • From either screen you can close programs by either right clicking the program and then pressing End task


OR

  • You can click to highlight the program then press End task (bottom right corner).


NOTE:


If you click the drop down arrow from the first image it will take you to the window you see in the second image.


You can also use task manager to force close any programs that are "stuck"
