Objectives:


When you complete this manual, you'll know how to do following:

  • Scan One Time Password token (OTP) and obtain passcodes using Microsoft Authenticator

OTP token is a security program that is capable of producing a single-use password or PIN passcode. 

  • Connect VPN through Sophos Connect with Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) 

MFA is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to resource. It is a core component of strong identity and access management policy, which decreases the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.



Steps:


A. Obtain a Passcode

  1.  Download and Install  Microsoft Authenticator for Android or Microsoft Authenticator for Apple on your mobile device. 
  2.  Log on through the User Portal on your laptop or desktop using your computer credentials.

                The user portal displays the OTP (One Time Password) token.



         3. Scan the OTP token using Microsoft Authenticator.

B. Connect VPN through Sophos Connect


  1. Open Sophos connect (double click the desktop shortcut) and click Connect button 


2. Enter your computer credentials. Log on by typing the password using the following format: 

<user password><generated passcode> 


For example user current computer password is: HelloWorld2022#


Microsoft Authenticator Passcode



Enter Password with the Passcode: 

HelloWorld2022#427303



You are now connected!

    If you want to disconnect VPN, just open Sophos Connect again and click "Disconnect" button
